Kenai Peninsula College invites applications for a dynamic and experienced Early Childhood Education Faculty member to join our team. This is a tenure-track position with an effective start date of August 2025.

This position involves teaching 2-4 synchronous online Early Childhood Education courses each semester, including Introduction to Early Childhood and Creativity and the Arts in Early Childhood. Additional responsibilities include conducting clinical observations for 200-400 level courses in Kenai Peninsula Borough School District (KPBSD) K-12 schools, with potential travel, and advising students in Early Childhood Education programs across various degree levels (OEC, AA, BA, Post-BA, and AAS). The faculty member will work closely with the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) School of Education, overseeing adjunct faculty, scheduling courses, and fostering partnerships with schools and early childhood facilities for student practicum and internships.

The successful candidate will actively recruit and retain students, participating in career and college fairs and other outreach events, while also managing program logistics and ensuring strong community engagement. The role includes serving on committees at KPC, UAA, and statewide levels, contributing to the development and support of the Early Childhood Education program. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as is a commitment to culturally responsive teaching, mentoring non-traditional students, and working effectively with diverse populations.

The ideal candidate will have three to five years experience in an early childhood setting teaching birth to 3rd grade. The candidate should have a documented background in preparing educators in areas such as curriculum, educational leadership, special education, assessment, or related fields. Experience with online teaching, classroom technologies, and supervising internships within school/university partnerships is desired. Preferred qualifications include experience teaching college-level education courses and expertise in STEM education within early childhood settings.

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctorate in Early Childhood, Child Development or a closely related field.

Prior educational work experience in birth to 6th grade or an elementary school setting.

Position Details:

This position is located on the Kenai Peninsula College campus in Soldotna.  This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure track, faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. Kenai Peninsula College (KPC) is a campus of the University of Alaska Anchorage. The college has three locations and is comprised of:

This position will be located at the Kenai River Campus situated on 309 acres along the banks of the beautiful Kenai River, the ancestral homelands of the Dena'ina Athabascan, Ahtna Athabascan, Alutiiq/Sugpiaq and Eyak peoples. KPC offers two-year Associates of Arts and Associates of Applied Science degrees, as well as courses leading to occupational certifications and UAA baccalaureate degrees, such as Psychology, Anthropology, Communication, and Art. KPC enrolls more than 2,000 students/semester.
