Assistant or Associate Professor of Special Education

This position will teach special education that encompasses theory, research, and practice relating to individuals who experience disabilities. Provide support and guidance in diverse communities in urban and rural districts. Guide student research through internship capstone projects.

A potential candidate's consideration will be enhanced by providing evidence of experience in working with diverse schools and a track record of equity-minded leadership, university teaching, and field supervision; experience with current K-12 school reforms and technology relevant to school administration; knowledge of the regulations of local, state and national trends.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualifications for the rank of Assistant Professor:
● Earned doctorate in Special Educational or a closely related field.
● At least three years of teaching experience in K-12 special education.
● Demonstrate knowledge of the latest trends/research in teaching students on general curriculum (i.e., high-incidence disabilities).

Qualifications for the rank of Associate Professor:
● Earned doctorate in Special Educational or a closely related field.
● University teaching experience.
● Demonstrated leadership skills in professional or academic areas.
● Three years of teaching experience in K-12 special education.
● Three years experience supporting and serving children and youth with disabilities.
● Experience forming collaborative partnerships with community programs, schools, relevant state departments, professional organizations, families, and/or other serving children with disabilities and their families.

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in Anchorage, Alaska. Applicants must be able to relocate to Anchorage, Alaska by the position start date. This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure track, faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.
