Kenai Peninsula College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Art.
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our Art Department, specializing in at least one area of studio art such as drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, graphic design, photography, printmaking, or Alaska Native art. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to collaborate with students in 100- and 200-level college courses and have experience working with diverse groups of learners. They must employ innovative, student-centered teaching practices, utilize teaching technology effectively, engage in face to face and online education, and mentor students from varying backgrounds and skill levels.
This position also requires the ability to complete the diverse tasks that are associated with being a productive member of a small department. In addition to teaching, the selected candidate will serve as the Director of the Gary L Freeburg Art Gallery, overseeing all aspects of gallery operations while fostering meaningful ties to the local and statewide art community.
To thrive in this role, the selected candidate will have strong interpersonal and communications skills and be eager to engage in activities such as advising students, developing curricula, preparing course materials, scheduling, critiquing and assessing student work, and mentoring students toward academic and professional success. Service to the college includes attending faculty meetings, participating in recruitment events and gallery openings, supporting departmental publicity, and coordinating and recruiting adjunct instructors within the art discipline.
Minimum Qualifications:
MFA in Art or an appropriate area of Art Study (i.e. Graphic Design, Ceramics, Paining, etc.).
Position Details:
This position is located on the Kenai Peninsula College campus in Soldotna. This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure track, faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. KPC offers two-year Associates of Arts and Associates of Applied Science degrees, as well as courses leading to occupational certifications and UAA baccalaureate degrees, such as Psychology, Anthropology, Communication, and Art. KPC enrolls more than 2,000 students/semester.
