This is a part-time, temporary reference librarian position lasting approximately 20 weeks, with a start date of approximately 7/1/2025. Temporary librarian will support ARLIS founders and the public with their research needs by phone, email, and on-site appointments.

Experience with providing academic library reference and research services. Experience working with integrated library systems, archival collections, and electronic resources. Experience working in specialized research libraries. Experience with interpersonal communication in a patron-facing role.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in library science from an ALA-accredited library school.

Proficiency with handling complex library reference and research questions, providing information resources and services, assisting and instructing patrons, providing reference outreach and engagement. Knowledge of reference theory and practice. Ability to work effectively with colleagues in a team environment. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow through on assigned tasks. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Knowledge of natural sciences.

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Anchorage, Alaska. This is a part-time (approximately 14 hours/week or less), non-exempt, temporary staff position. New hires will be placed on the UA Temporary Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 80, based on education and experience.

This is a pooled position, which means that the position remains open until 7/31/25.
