The Office of the Bursar at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) invites applications for the position of Accounts Receivable Specialist. As a key member of our student‑facing team, you will play an essential role in managing current and past‑due student accounts and coordinating third‑party sponsorships. The Office of the Bursar oversees all university receipts and is committed to providing excellent customer service to students and external sponsors alike. If you have a passion for service, a strong eye for detail, and a desire to help students navigate the financial side of their college experience, this could be the perfect role for you.
As an Accounts Receivable Specialist, you will manage student account billing, payment plans, follow‑up on past due balances, and coordinate with external agencies for student sponsorships and invoicing. Our Accounts Receivable Specialists deliver outstanding customer service through multiple channels—including the call center, department email accounts, and on‑site service windows. In this role, you will contribute to a team dedicated to accuracy, professionalism, and timely support for students and campus partners.
We are seeking a candidate who demonstrates initiative, is well organized, and maintains strong attention to detail. To thrive in this role, you must be able to work independently while also collaborating closely with colleagues to support a cooperative and efficient work environment. A solutions‑oriented mindset is essential, particularly when helping students resolve account issues or coordinating sponsorship arrangements. General accounting knowledge and experience with standard office programs—such as Excel, Word, email platforms, and databases—are required. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to interact professionally with students, staff, and external agencies, are essential. Experience working with Banner is preferred.
