Alaska 4-H faculty and staff are community-based academic professionals of the University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service. They are a link between the land grant University research and Alaska residents by creating learning opportunities that address
local needs.

This position leads, manages and stewards the full range of 4-H Youth Development programming in the Mat-Su Copper River. 4-H Program Coordinators work collaboratively with youth, volunteers, community partners, and University faculty/staff to reach two
overarching program goals: Youth will learn by developing a passion in their areas of interest; Youth will lead by being innovators and social change agents. 4-H Program Coordinators ensure program quality, growth, retention, and impact.

They also:
Build relationships with youth, parents, volunteers, partners and stakeholders.
Recruit, train, supervise and support volunteers.
Plan, manage, deliver, and evaluate educational programs and events.
Develop outreach and educational materials.
Teach and provide information to youth, volunteers, and community youth workers.
Promote and market the 4-H Youth Development program.
Provide financial guidance to clubs.
Ensure policies and expected procedures are communicated and followed.
The MSCR 4-H Program Coordinator position is housed in Palmer, Alaska and is supervised by the Alaska 4-H & Youth Development State Program Lead.

The 4‐H Program Coordinator leads and manages the full range of the 4‐H Youth Development programs including clubs, after school programs, educational experiences and camps. Program Coordinators also design, deliver, and evaluate research‐based educational programming and services aligned with the position’s programmatic focus. Initial programming focus will include: Working with the 4‐H program and its volunteers in efforts to maintain and strengthen the 4‐H program; Supporting and building volunteer recruitment and development efforts; Expanding leadership experiences for youth; Working with community collaborations to increase opportunities for youth to develop and build positive life skills.

To be success the candidate should have the ability to lead and manage programs, youth and volunteers. Have Strong verbal and written communication skills. Be good at planning, organizing events, and managing resources. Have above average knowledge of youth development principles and practices. Be skilled in engaging with community partners and stakeholders and conduct training sessions.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates degree in a related field or equivalent combination of training and experience, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
2 years of experience working directly with youth.
Possesses unrestricted work authorization.
Possesses valid driver license or the ability to obtain one.

Position Details:

This position is located in Palmer Alaska. This is a full-time, term-funded, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 77, based on education and experience.
