The University of Alaska Human Resources (UA HR) office is looking for a full-time, temporary Payroll Assistant to help in support of the UA HR Payroll team for approximately the next 6 months to a year, or more. This is a great opportunity to grow in HR, by gaining direct exposure to HR systems and processes while receiving on-the-job training.

As our Payroll Assistant, you will provide support to the Payroll team at University of Alaska Human Resources (UA HR). Through cooperative teamwork, you will help to ensure accurate and timely payroll for employees across the UA system. Payroll is a small yet dedicated team of technicians under UA HR Services that facilitates the process of UA payroll on a bi-weekly cycle.

To thrive in this role, you must have excellent organizational and follow-up skills. Effectively completing routine and assigned tasks will require you to exercise great attention to detail. You will need to be flexible and able to work in an environment of change and adapt to shifting priorities and new system interfaces with ease. Must be able to foster a collaborative team environment, while being able to prioritize your workload independently and meet deadlines under stressful situations. Always providing excellent customer service.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent.
Prior office/administrative or payroll experience is preferred.

Position Details:

This position can be based at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA), University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF), or University of Alaska Southeast (UAS). This is a full-time, non-exempt temporary staff position, flexible on-site/hybrid work arrangements may be considered in accordance with UA regulations. Temporary employees hired at 30+ hours per week are eligible for certain benefits. This position will be compensated at a rate of $19.86 hourly.
