Are you ready to make a difference and help students achieve their dreams? TRIO Programs at UAA is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Student Assistant to join our vibrant team. As a member of our Student Support Services (SSS), Upward Bound (UB), and Educational Talent Search (ETS) programs, you will play a key role in promoting our mission and fostering student success. In this exciting role, you’ll showcase your creativity by managing our social media presence and assisting with the day-to-day operations in the office. You’ll get to engage with our community through Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter), creating dynamic content and promoting our programs' events and services. Additionally, you will provide valuable office support and assist with data entry and event programming. If you're excited about making an impact and developing your skills in a supportive environment, we’d love to hear from you!

TRIO UB, ETS, and SSS are grant-funded programs that assist high school students from Bartlett, West, and Bettye Davis East and college students at UAA to prepare for and succeed in college. We serve students from communities that have traditionally been underrepresented in college graduates, including students who will be or are eligible for the federal Pell Grant, first-generation college students, and, for SSS, students who are registered with UAA’s Disability Support Services. We are seeking a student assistant to create and post social media content and manage our social media accounts. The TRIO Student Assistant will maintain a dynamic and engaging social media presence and promote the events, activities, and services available through the TRIO programs. This will take place through advertising on campus, creating engaging social media posts, taking pictures at events, developing email and other marketing campaigns, and other creative ideas. The TRIO Student Assistant may also be tasked with general office duties such as filing, scanning documents, data entry, monitoring the TRIO study space, assisting with events, and other general support activities.

To thrive in this role, the student worker must be dependable, able to work independently with minimal supervision and keep all student information confidential. Additionally, they should have strong administrative and organizational skills and advanced computer literacy skills. They should have strong social skills with a service-focused orientation. The applicant must have strong social media, photography, and videography skills or be excited to develop them. They should have an understanding of how to convey information effectively while keeping the audience engaged through Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and/or X (formerly Twitter). Experience with Canva and other digital editing tools is a plus. Experience similar to the student populations we serve is beneficial but not required.
