The College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS) at the University of Alaska Fairbanks is seeking a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Fisheries. This is a two-year, National Science Foundation-funded postdoctoral position to investigate the evolution of ice-binding proteins in intertidal invertebrates (Echinodermata). The overall objective of the project is to describe the extent to which IBP production exists and is environmentally correlated across select lineages of intertidal invertebrates that inhabit the Arctic and subarctic. This includes generating genomic and transcriptomic datasets of several species of intertidal invertebrates. The project includes fieldwork, lab work, comparative genomic analysis, coordinating specimen collection across the United States, and engaging with graduate and undergraduate students, faculty, community members, and other postdocs at UAF.
We seek enthusiastic applicants that can provide evidence of creativity, productivity, and strong oral and written communication skills. The successful applicant will be an independent and motivated problem solver who enjoys working in a collaborative environment. Relevant work experience is desirable and a promising publication record is highly valued.
