The University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Mine Training Coordinator. This position plays a crucial role in fostering increased collaboration with community and K-12 partners, as well as Greens Creek, Kensington, and other regional mines. The Mine Training Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive training programs in consolation with faculty aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of students and professionals in the mining industry. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of Alaska's mining workforce while building strong relationships with industry stakeholders. 

Those from secondary K12 education are encouraged to apply. If an applicant demonstrates a strong understanding of the educational system but lacks mining experience, a short, paid internship with one or multiple of the regional mines will be expected after initial hire.

 A successful candidate will encompass the following skills and abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of mining industry operations, regulations, and safety practices.
  • Proven experience in curriculum development, instruction, and program management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including community organizations, K-12 schools, and industry representatives.
  • Familiarity with educational technologies and online learning platforms.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Willingness to travel within Alaska and occasionally outside the state. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving criteria is required. 

Position Details:

This position is located on the Southeast campus in Juneau. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 81, based on education and experience.
