Maintenance Service Worker 3 - UAA Housing Facilities Maintenance Summer 2025

Housing Facilities and Finance is responsible for all business and facility aspects of UAA's residential campus. This includes 18 residential and non-residential buildings across campus.

This is a University of Alaska Local 6070 union represented position and is open to internal and external applicants. We’re looking for a dedicated individual to join our team, where you’ll be under supervision to assist with a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and light construction tasks across several trades, including plumbing, carpentry, painting, landscaping, agricultural installation, and equipment maintenance. Your responsibilities will include keeping buildings and grounds clean and orderly, performing trash removal, raking, mowing, spraying, and clearing hazards such as snow, ice, and debris. You’ll also assist with repairing fences, gates, landscapes, walls, walks, and signs, and provide support for minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs. Additionally, you will help with drywall repairs, texture work, painting, troubleshooting doors, locks, appliances, and maintaining furniture and windows. You’ll use work orders, including computerized systems, to manage inventories, issue materials, and perform periodic checks. Other duties will include floor maintenance, trash removal, and maintaining cleanliness of buildings. A minimum of 3 years of driving experience is preferred. Minimum Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience: Any combination of education and experience which clearly demonstrates the skills and abilities necessary to accomplish the essential functions of the job.

May require a current valid driver's license, must meet UA safe driving requirements.

FERPA certification or certification completion within 30 days of the job start date.
Title IX certification or certification completion within 30 days of the job start date.
Behavior Based Safety (BBS) certification or certification completion within 30 days of the job start date.
Workplace Harassment Prevention certification or certification completion within 30 days of the job start date.

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, non-exempt temporary staff position from May 2025 - August 2025.

Salary: $19.71/hour

Applicants must be available to work & complete the entire job assignment employment period in order to receive the discounted student housing benefit of shared, same gender apartment housing for the summer. The $3,000 value of housing cost is discounted to $650 and is for the entire summer employment period including interim periods. To qualify for this benefit, applicant must also qualify for student summer housing with UAA and follow all Residence Life policies related to summer housing and campus living. If the position is vacated early, the entire housing costs may be evoked and fees assessed equal to the summer sessions (including interim periods) housing cost.
