Lead Analyst Programmer - ERP Student Functional Area

The University of Alaska seeks a Lead Analyst Programmer for our enterprise resource planning (ERP) Student module to join our Enterprise Applications team. As our Lead Analyst/Programmer of Student, you will serve as a trusted advisor to the Universities’ student areas. You will work closely with University Registrars, Admissions, Cataloging, and similar teams who will value your efforts and share their appreciation for helping them achieve better experiences for students. Your success is measured by achieving business outcomes that support these university student areas. You will help manage the main Student Information System (SIS) Ellucian Banner and related systems that are integrated for student area needs. As part of this position, you will routinely be reading product release notes, implementation guides, and user guides, reviewing product configurations, coordinating technical and non-technical work, defining scopes of work for technical teams, meeting with stakeholders, and either reviewing or writing SQL or software to ensure expected outcomes. Related to coordinating for the student areas, you will prioritize and maintain all student-related backlog of requests, be the first contact for on-call work, and have to participate in some activities that occur on the weekend related to routine upgrades, configuration changes, and system patching.

The work hours are somewhat flexible but everyone on the team is expected to work 8 hours with a break during University of Alaska (UA) business hours Monday through Friday ranging between the times 7am and 6pm.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in a relevant field (i.e. Information Technology, Computer Science, or other related field) and 4 years of progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Our focus on an advanced Computer Science or Information Technology degree is in the context of having sufficient information and experience in developing, running, or managing complex environments and being able to understand a large part of the programming effort that is done to support the integrations to one of the systems. Having developed large and complex systems or having experience running and coordinating their operations generally is sufficient to qualify for the experience. Those who have routinely created technical specification documents, created scopes of work, or managed agile teams to facilitate software life cycle are highly aligned to be successful here. A Product owners (related to Agile frameworks) might be well suited for this position as well, but would need to be capable of vetting and defining the requests in addition to managing and prioritizing a backlog.

Position Details:

This position can be 100% remote, candidates that have a strong connection with Alaska are preferred. This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and a full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 82, based on education and experience.
