Kenai Peninsula College in Homer, Alaska, is looking for a skilled Crafts and Maintenance Technician to oversee the upkeep of our Kachemak Bay Campus. The person in this role will leverage their technical experience - from plumbing to carpentry to electrical systems - to ensure a safe and welcoming campus. This person will serve as the leader of the Facilities and Maintenance Department at KBC and will assign work to a small team of custodial staff.

This individual will be responsible for performing skilled and semi-skilled work associated with the maintenance, repair and upkeep of the college’s facilities and grounds. This includes campus systems like HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, boilers, and fire systems. Responsibilities also include interior and exterior building repairs, snow/ice removal and landscaping.

To thrive in this role, you should have a broad understanding of building maintenance and the ability to maintain a safe and secure workplace. Strong verbal and written communications skills, computer technology skills, knowledge of custodial, landscape, vehicle and building maintenance and handling requirements of hazardous materials are important. Should be able to meet the physical demands of the job.

Minimum Qualifications:

*Requires apprentice level or other equivalent certification in a construction or building trade with a minimum of three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

*Must have a valid Alaska driver’s license with a driving record that meets UAA requirements.

*Ability to work independently and in a group setting including following, interpreting and communicating instructions given by management. Assisting in providing a productive and safe work environment.

Position Details:

This position is located on Kenai Peninsula College's Kachemak Bay campus in Homer, Alaska. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. Salary Information: CT1 /Step 1 $24.36/hr.  (See Article 9.2 in the L6070 Collective Bargaining Agreement, Wage Grade Schedule).
