As a communicating science intern, you’ll have the exciting opportunity to work with scientists and gain hands-on training and experience in translating scientific concepts into accessible and engaging content for diverse audiences. The Alaska Climate Adaptation Science Center seeks two interns for a 10-week summer 2025 internship from June 2, 2025 – August 8, 2025. Current or recently graduated undergraduate students with an interest in science and society, science communication, or science policy are encouraged to- apply. On-campus housing in Fairbanks, Alaska will be provided. This is a paid internship at $18.18 per hour for those at the -undergraduate level and $20.47 per hour for those at the graduate level.
During this unique, 10-week internship you’ll work with scientists and science communication experts to support research activities in a variety of topics (ecology, biology, environmental science, earth science) and generate creative and innovative communication products in a supportive, semi-structured environment.
The intern will report to Kristin Timm and will build professional experiences and connections with Alaska scientists and research professionals.
To thrive in this role, you must be an upper level undergraduate, recently graduated, or a current graduate student, excited about learning more about science communication, and passionate about science. The successful intern will also have excellent written and oral communication skills; the ability to follow detailed instructions and meet deadlines; the ability to work independently and as a team; and be organized and detail oriented.
Minimum Qualifications:
Current undergraduate enrolled at any university or recently graduated with an interest in science and society, science communication, or science policy.
