Kodiak College is seeking applicants for an accounting supervisor position. This position involves a great deal of attention-to-detail and ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and institutional policies. Responsible for developing, updating and implementing financial strategies and solutions. Must have the ability to collaborate and support management to align financial requirements with organizational business objectives. 

In this position, candidates must have a solid understanding of accounting theory, fund accounting, and advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Candidates should be skilled in cost/benefit analysis, budget forecasting, and preparation procedures, as well as strategic planning and project management. Proficiency in developing complex spreadsheets and databases, generating computer-based reports, and using Microsoft Office applications is essential. Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to provide excellent customer service and interact effectively with diverse groups, are also important. The role demands strong analytical abilities, the capacity to identify and implement improvements, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure with minimal supervision.

To thrive in this role, the successful candidate ill have two to five years of progressive experience in accounting, with a strong background in managing complex budgets involving multiple funding sources and restrictions within a computerized accounting system. Candidates should have solid experience with general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and data analysis for accurate financial reporting. The role also demands the ability to develop solutions, make informed recommendations, resolve accounting issues, and manage grants, including budgeting and reporting responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience in accounting, statistics, or a related field: At least two years of progressively responsible professional fiscal experience, experience leading a team, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred: Advanced technical skills in the BANNER finance, student, and human resources modules, Associates degree in Accounting, Knowledge and experience in accounting and budget maintenance in a government setting.

Position Details:

This position is located on the Kodiak College campus in Kodiak, Alaska. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 77, based on education and experience.
