Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Working knowledge of AP style and formatting, as well as the ability to take high-quality photos of events. Duties will include a minimum of two stories submitted per week. Preferred Experience & Education:
Previous journalism or general writing experience. Familiarity with APA formatting and Microsoft Office. Ability to work in groups conduct research to produce professional articles.
Required Experience & Education:

Experience writing and self-proof reading and editing.

Salary Information:

This is a student assistant position paid at $14.96 hourly.

To Be Eligible For Student Employment An Applicant Must:

A.) Be enrolled in the University of Alaska system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; or
B.) Have been enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters; and
C.) Have at least a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA).
D.) An applicant must provide evidence of enrollment as outlined above to substantiate employment eligibility.

While in a student position, a student employee cannot hold any other type of simultaneous employment with the university, (some examples of other types of non-compatible employment are regular or temporary staff, adjunct position, etc.)

This is a pooled position, which means that the position remains open over the entire academic year and students may apply for the position all year. When departments need to fill a position, they review the current “pool” and call students for interviews. Students who were not hired for one position still remain in the pool for other positions.
