Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Required: Infant-child-adult first aid and CPR certification.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be willing to authorize and successfully pass a personal and criminal background check and meet all requirements specified by licensing regulations.

Knowledge/Skills: Experience working with children and diverse families. General working knowledge and experience with young children in a group setting, child development curriculum, classroom teaching techniques, psychology and sociology of families. The ability to help ensure a safe, healthy learning environment and a developmentally appropriate program that encourages productive relationships with UAF student, lab school staff and families. Ability to complete and maintain accurate reports (i.e., attendance, meals, incidents, accidents, etc.). Must have an understanding and working knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures, national accreditation practices, licensing standards. Must have demonstrable interpersonal and communication skills.

Physical Requirements: Successful candidates must be able to lift or move up to 50 lbs, have good vision and hearing as mandated to meet all childcare regulatory and licensing requirements.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Excellent customer care skills. Preferred Experience & Education:
At minimum, three months experience working with age-appropriate pre-school children.
Required Experience & Education:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduation or equivalent plus some vocational technical course work in early childhood education or a related field and/or formal experience working with age appropriate preschool children.

Salary Information:

This is a temporary staff position, working on-call / as needed to support the needs of the Bunnell House Early Childhood Lab School.  Starting salary is $16.15, but may vary based on  education and experience.

This is a pooled position, which means that the position remains open throughout the academic year. 

 

The successful candidate will work in conjunction with Lead and Assistant Teachers planning and implementing model developmental programs. They will assist in the implementation of the program plan and provide the daily care, education, and supervision of children in an assigned area; observe, record, and report individual and group behavior in an accurate and timely manner; assist in the care and supervision of children, including changing, toileting, feeding, nap time, and playground supervision; and assist in providing an environment of acceptance in which children can grow with positive self-concept.
