The WWAMI School of Medical Education at UAA is in need of an Anatomy Lab Assistant. WWAMI is an MD program offered in partnership with the University of Washington School of Medicine which uses a cutting-edge Anatomy Lab at UAA—the only lab of its kind in Alaska. Using real cadavers, state-of-the-art computer imaging and 3-D models, human anatomy comes to life here for students in a range of clinical degree programs at UAA. The Anatomy Lab enriches classroom courses and is important for future health care professionals. The Lab Assistant will help Anatomy faculty with setting up and cleaning up the Anatomy labs for students and instructors. They will also assist instructors with various needs during labs and help students during open labs.

To be successful in this role, you should have excellent organizational skills. The ability to understand and execute written and verbal instructions. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds. Possess good problem solving skills, be reliable and dependable with a flexible schedule. We're looking for self-starters who can demonstrate the willingness and ability to adapt and learn. Some familiarity with medical equipment and/or supplies is helpful but not required. Typically, applicants are taking classes towards a healthcare-related degree program. Applicants who have already taken physiology and anatomy courses are preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

Undergraduate in Health Sciences.

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Anchorage. This is a part-time, temporary non-exempt staff position. New hires will be placed on the UA Temporary Staff Salary Schedule at a minimum of Grade 74, based on education and experience. The schedule for this position is flexible, depending on the needs of the lab and instructor, for up to 20 hours per week.

This is a pooled position, which means that the position remains open over the entire academic year.
