      Ketchikan Maritime Center is looking for a hands-on lab technician who knows their way around tools, safety protocols, and technical training environments. This role supports daily lab operations, maintains equipment, and ensures students can train safely and effectively across welding, power tech, and marine transportation disciplines. Equipment includes outboards, diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, welding, fire and water survival gear and more. 

      To thrive in this role, you should have the ability to communicate effectively. Ability to work with others and provide good customer service. Ability to multitask during minor interruptions. Interpret and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Monitor and maintain equipment to ensure the readiness and availability are 100%. Ability to operate and perform maintenance on equipment. Ability to follow directions.

      Desirable: experience working with a diverse group of people.

      Minimum Qualifications:

      High school graduation and six months experience in a field relevant to the research or an
      equivalent combination of training and experience.

      A valid Alaska Driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria.

      Position Details:

      This position is located on the Ketchikan campus in Universaty of Alaska Southeast, . This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 75, based on education and experience.
