The University of Alaska Fairbanks, Rasmuson Library seeks a highly motivated recently graduated librarian to serve as a non-tenure-track member of our instructional faculty. In this position you’ll teach our core information literacy course, “LS101,” as well as individual course-integrated instruction sessions, both online and in the classroom. You’ll use your creative talents to design shared curriculum, create shared assignments, and help us update our student learning outcomes with the latest ACRL Framework. This position also provides reference and research services, and works with the outreach team to promote the library’s information resources and help ensure student success.

This position is part of the RIOS (Research, Instruction and Outreach, Services) department of Rasmuson Library. The majority of this position (60%) will be spent teaching our core one-credit information literacy course, LS101 to undergraduate students, and teaching one-shot bibliographic instruction sessions. You’ll also be leading the library faculty with updating LS101 student learning outcomes based on the latest ACRL Framework. 30% of this position will be providing reference, research, and outreach services to students, faculty, and staff. 10% of this position focuses on serving on library and university-wide committees, and participating in job-related professional development.

To thrive in the role, you should be familiar with the latest ACRL Framework and be comfortable teaching information literacy in face-to-face, online, and hybrid environments. You should be well-versed in instructional design technologies and curriculum development. Previous experience teaching credit-bearing courses is desired, as is work experience in a library or research institute. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in library and/or information science from an ALA-accredited institution.

Minimum of one semester of teaching or bibliographic instruction experience, or coursework in instructional methodology.

Position Details:

This position is located on the UAF Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks, Alaska.   This is a full time, term, two year faculty position complete with both a competitive salary, full employee benefits package and a relocation allowance.  UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. 9-month salary range of $60,420-$77,644, depending on experience, plus a 3-month summer extension.
