The University Anchorage Police Department is looking for an Administrative Office Manager. The Manager reports to the Chief of Police. In this role, you will lead the Federal and State Crime reporting and records management processes within the Police Department.

The University Police Department provides safety services for the Anchorage campus and residential halls. The Chief, sworn officers, sergeants, dispatchers, non-sworn security, civilian professional staff, and student workers show up every day to help you accomplish your educational goals in peace and safety. We are looking for an Administrative Office Manager. The Manager reports to the Chief of Police. In this role, you will lead the Federal and State Crime reporting and records management processes within the Police Department. 

To be successful in this role, it is helpful to possess the following attributes:

• Experience in higher education law enforcement / public safety
• Previous fiscal management experience
• Three years or more of work experience with an institution of Higher Education

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in related field and five years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Interpersonal Skills:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and groups and to work successfully as a member of a team, but also independently. Ability to work with diverse peoples. Ability to handle stressful situations with tact and diplomacy. Ability to exhibit discretion, confidence, initiative, and flexibility. Demonstrated commitment to teamwork. Ability to work with highly confidential and sensitive information.

Oral and Written Communication Skills:
Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally, proofread documents, and compose professional correspondence. Ability to create and deliver presentations to UAA’s diverse populations of students, staff, faculty members, external constituents, multiple departments, and community campuses.

Administrative Knowledge Skills:
Experience creating and following administrative procedures. Ability to conduct research using reference materials. Ability to understand and comprehend written material and interpret and apply policies, rules, and regulations. Ability to analyze facts and form arguments. Ability to recognize areas of non-compliance.

Organization Skills:
Ability to organize and prioritize workload in a changing environment with shifting deadlines and priorities. Ability to map out tasks associated with a project and create a timeline to perform the work. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and produce results. Ability to utilize an online student conduct database, assorted police records systems. Ability to file records.

Computer Skills:
Ability to use MS Office Suite of software to compose correspondence, create spreadsheets, and prepare presentations (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access). Ability to set-up and use database and records management software programs to organize data and run reports.

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Anchorage, Alaska. This is a full-time, term-funded, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 80, based on education and experience.

This position is a term-funded position and is reviewed annually for contract renewal at the University's discretion.
