The Alaska Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is hiring a Tribal SSBCI Lending Program Director to oversee its Alaska Tribal SSBCI loan facilitation programs. Under the direction of the SSBCI Director, this position will manage the Alaska Tribal SBDC’s Loan Participation, Loan Guarantee, and Loan Collateral programs, which are capitalized by the U.S. Department of Treasury through the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) program. This position will be responsible for deploying and overseeing the new guarantee, collateral, and participation programs housed within the Alaska SBDC.

This position will be responsible for developing loan facilitation programs that leverage private sector funds in order to increase the amount of capital available to Alaskan entrepreneurs. Oversight responsibilities include developing and communicating policies, procedures, goals, eligibility standards, and evaluation criteria. Conduct a preliminary analysis of applications that includes compliance with SSBCI requirements. The position will also educate stakeholders statewide via seminars, presentations, advertisements, websites, and events. Will also assist applicants with completing and submitting program applications and informing them of the approval process. The position will also be responsible for engaging with the AK Tribal SSBCI Advisory Committee, coordinating materials for review, and hosting regular meetings.

To thrive in this position, the ideal candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with five years of progressively responsible experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The candidate must have experience in the commercial lending field in Alaska, providing loans to businesses in the state. Additionally, experience with loan facilitation programs, including SSBCI loan programs and SBA 504 or 7a loan programs, is required.

The ideal candidate will also have prior familiarity with the SSBCI program's details. Experience working for Alaskan financial institutions is beneficial. A history of working with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and Small Business Administration (SBA) district, regional, or national offices is advantageous. Strong public speaking skills are essential, along with experience working with Alaskan small businesses, especially in securing financing and financial assistance. Occasional travel may be required, along with availability for meetings outside the standard 8-5, Monday through Friday hours.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field and five years progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience working in the commercial lending field in Alaska providing loans to businesses in the state. Experience working with loan facilitation programs including (but not limited to) SBA 504 and 7a loan programs. Position Details:

This position is located on the UAA campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, term-funded, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 81, based on education and experience.
