The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA), School of Preventive and Therapeutic Sciences seeks an innovative, energetic individual who will work in a collaborative teaching environment in the delivery of courses in the UAA Speech Language Pathology (SLP) programs.

The faculty member appointed to this will provide advising to prospective and current students as well as didactic and clinical education to students enrolled in the SLP programs. The faculty member will contribute to the structure and daily operation of the program and clinic, including organization, administration, periodic review and evaluation, continued development, and general effectiveness of program curricula and grants.

As the Speech-Language Pathology Program Coordinator, you will work collaboratively within and across the College of Health to oversee SLP programs and provide opportunities for interdisciplinary education. You will work with direction and support from the Assistant Dean of the School of Preventive and Therapeutic Sciences to grow SLP programs and ensure student success. You will teach undergraduate and post-baccalaureate courses, manage course offerings, develop programs, engage with community and University stakeholders, coordinate with our affiliated graduate school program, mentor students, and oversee grant-funded clinical experiences.

A successful SLP Program Coordinator will seek out collaboration within the SLP profession and across other disciplines while working well independently to meet program needs. A strong sense of cultural humility and a passion for growing the SLP professions across Alaskan communities are central to this role.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required Experience:
• Minimum five years’ experience in clinical practice
• Experience supervising graduate students in clinical training

Required Education and Credentials:
• Master’s degree in speech-language pathology / Communication Science and Disorders
• American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certification CCC-SLP
• Current or eligible for State of Alaska Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist
• Current ASHA certification for providing clinical instruction and supervision

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska Goose Lake campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, 9-month, term funded, faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage, and representation under a Collective Bargaining Unit. The expected start date will be in August 2024. Salary will be based upon applicable academic preparation and experience.
