UAF Community and Technical College (CTC) is looking to add a Term Assistant Professor to our Process Technology (PRT) team. This is a full-time, 9-month, term faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UAF CTC's core purpose is community driven education focusing on workforce development, academic preparation, and lifelong learning. Our Process Technology faculty bring years of experience in various fields within the process industry to train and prepare students for exciting careers within the process industry. Process industries include oil and gas production, chemical manufacturing, petroleum refining, mining and milling, power generation and utilities, waste and wastewater treatment, and seafood and other food processing. As these industries expand and automate, the need for technicians with additional specialization increases; this position will help equip our students to meet those needs.
To thrive in this position, you will use your demonstrated qualifications in one or more Process Technology Industries or fields such as: chemical, oil and gas, occupational health and safety, power generation, food processing, waste water, or mineral processing operations. Your knowledge and skill in using computer-based training, safety training and computer simulation of industrial processes will be used daily. Your demonstrated experience working collaboratively with industry and community partners will be invaluable for student success and the program's continued growth.
Minimum Qualifications:
Although not required for this position, the following knowledge, skills, and abilities are also preferred:
- Successful teaching/training experience.
- Background and experience in instrumentation technologies.
- Strong academic preparation in process technology including academic training or curriculum development.
- Experience with Alaska process industries.
- Experience with and sensitivity to diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds of community college students, and especially Alaska Natives.
- Demonstrated ability to employ a variety of teaching techniques and strategies to address the diverse learning needs of students.
- Demonstrated experience with and understanding of distance education pedagogy and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to teach students to think critically and analytically about process technology.
Position Details:
This position is located at the UAF Community and Technical College in Fairbanks. This is a full-time,9-month, term faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.
