University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) is the largest of three universities in the University of Alaska system, serving nearly 11,000 students. Anchorage, the largest city in Alaska, with an ethnically diverse population of 290,000, offers a lively intellectual and cultural life, including opera, symphony, theater, art events, and a variety of restaurants. Set between snow-capped peaks of the Chugach Mountains and ocean waters of Cook Inlet, the city offers ready access to state and national forests and parks, year-round outdoor recreation, and unsurpassed natural beauty. While located in Alaska, Anchorage enjoys a moderate climate with snowy but mild winters and pleasantly warm summers.

Within UAA’s College of Engineering, the Project Management Department has an MS Project Management, MS Project Management + Leadership Concentration, MS Project Management+ Business Concentration, Graduate Certificate in Project Management, an Accelerated MSPM, a BS Project Management, and a Minor in Project Management. The UAA MSPM and GCPM programs are accredited by PMI- Global Accreditation Center (GAC); the BSPM was launched in Fall 2025 with an intent to seek PMI-GAC accreditation once the program produces its first graduates. The department offers a comprehensive set of project management courses that develop technical, leadership, collaboration, and strategic skills necessary for contemporary project, program, and project managers across a wide spectrum of industry sectors and organizational contexts. The Department strongly promotes a respectful working environment and collegiality.

UAA’s Project Management Department invites applicants for a full-time, non-tenure track, term-funded Assistant Professor position in Project Management. The position is open to individuals with both full-time university teaching experience and senior level project management industry experience. The successful candidate must hold a current Project Management Professional (PMP ®) credential or expect to complete one within one year of employment.

Courses may include graduate and undergraduate-level courses that prepare industry-ready project managers with technical, leadership, and strategic skills necessary for contemporary project managers in a wide spectrum of industry sectors and organizational contexts. Other duties include, but are not limited to, community service (including university, community, and professional); continuing the PMI-GAC accreditation process and other assessment activities; advising students; developing outreach programs to the larger community; assisting with curriculum development, program and faculty growth and development; participating on committees within the Project Management Department, College of Engineering, and university; and working cooperatively with Department and College of Engineering faculty and staff.

Experience mentoring undergraduate or graduate student capstone projects is preferred. Candidates should also have significant leadership experience in the field of Project Management, ideally in multiple industry sectors and organizational contexts, with a record of leadership, communication, collegiality, engagement, and mentoring that fosters an environment of community belonging. A Project Management Professional (PMP) credential is required, and other project management-related professional credentials are encouraged.
