As a Term Assistant Professor of Geology, you will contribute to undergraduate and graduate-level courses, involve students in research activities and contribute to service at the department and University level. The Department of Geological Sciences offers BS and MS degrees in Applied Geological Sciences.
To thrive in this role, you should have an aptitude for and strong interest in teaching, with emphasis on student engagement. Additionally, the successful candidate should have a strong desire to work in a team to meaningfully contribute to the Department and University activities such as outreach, curriculum development, and synergistic research.
A PhD in geological sciences or related field is required prior to Aug. 2024.
Specialization in the sub-discipline of Geomorphology or related field is preferred, but not required.
Ability to teach geomorphology is a strong plus.
Some industry experience and/or interest in working with local industry (i.e., civil engineering, mining, oil/gas, or research institutions) is valued.
Experience in, and/or a genuine interest in teaching lower and upper division Geological Sciences courses, curriculum development and assessment.
This position in located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in Anchorage, Alaska. This is an in-person position located on the Anchorage campus; remote work is not available for this position
This is a full-time, 9-month, 2 year Term, faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.
