This person will be responsible for supporting the communications efforts of the SBDC Communications Manager and the SBDC BuyAlaska Program Manager, as well as providing logistical and outreach support for events like workshops, summits, etc. The person highly successful in this position will eliminate distance as a limiting factor in the awareness, involvement and impact of communications and outreach that are designed to promote the SBDCs efforts to accelerate Alaska’s growth.

The Alaska Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is hiring a part-time Temporary Communications Professional to assist in the development and maintenance of SBDC’s social media and online presence and growing the organization's brand awareness among stakeholders, clients and funders. This position is designed to take advantage of communications best practices, digital platforms, social media, targeted outreach and graphic design to grow and strengthen the Alaska SBDC brand. This position is temporary and will work up to 19.5 hours a week while there are tasks to be performed and is subject to funding availability. Candidate must be able to work remotely and must have internet access.

To excel in this position, the ideal candidate will have a background in communications with an understanding of small businesses in Alaska and an awareness of the assistance provided by the Alaska Small Business Development Center through its various programs

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field and a minimum of three years of experience in communications, marketing and/or graphic design or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Advanced experience with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) is preferred as is experience working within Wordpress. Familiarity with Alaska SBDC, SBA, SSBCI, and University of Alaska is preferred.

Position Details:

This position is located on the UAA campus in Anchorage, and flexible on-site/hybrid work arrangements may be considered in accordance with UA regulations. This is a part time, temporary position. New hires will be placed on the UA Temporary Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
