The System Analyst position at NTS within the University of Alaska, Fairbanks (UAF), presents an exciting opportunity for a tech-savvy individual who thrives on collaboration and problem-solving. As a System Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between technology and organizational objectives. Working closely with cross-functional teams, academic departments, and key stakeholders, you will be responsible for understanding their technology needs and aligning solutions with the overarching goals of UAF. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving innovation and efficiency across campus, enabling the university to address evolving needs and deliver cutting-edge solutions. To excel in this role, we're looking for someone with a broad range of skills and experiences. You should have experience with automation tools like Chef or Puppet, or similar alternatives. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines is important, especially using tools such as Git, Jenkins, or Travis-CI for automating testing and managing continuous delivery deployments. We're also seeking someone proficient in at least one programming language like Ruby, Python, Perl, Java, or C/C++, with general familiarity across various languages.

A solid understanding of full-stack web development is key, including knowledge of JavaScript, CSS3, HTML5, and frameworks such as Django, Rails, Flask, Phoenix, or NodeJS. You should have strong database design and SQL knowledge, with any experience in NoSQL being a plus (but not required). Experience with cloud platforms, especially AWS, is preferred, though OpenStack, Google Cloud, or Azure experience would also be valuable.

Additionally, you should have hands-on experience with VMWare technologies like vSphere, vCenter Server, Horizon View, and ESXi, along with several years of working with Windows Server platforms and a strong grasp of Active Directory. Advanced knowledge of computer networking is essential, as is the ability to identify and resolve complex technical problems. A solid understanding of security best practices, including intrusion detection and prevention techniques, will be important. Finally, strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are a must, as well as at least four years of field experience in a complex, enterprise-level environment.

 Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science Degree or higher in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience. Relevant experience in Systems Engineering. Demonstrated effective written communication skills.

Position Details:

This position is located on-site at the Troth Yeddha' Campus in Fairbanks, Alaska.  This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 81, based on education and experience.
