Do you enjoy building websites, creating digital content, and making things look sharp online? The University of Alaska is looking for a motivated Student Web Assistant to join our team! This is a fantastic opportunity to gain real-world experience in web development, design, and digital communications while supporting the university’s online presence.

To thrive in this role, candidates should be enrolled at the University of Alaska with at least six credits and possess proficiency with web content management systems such as Modern Campus CMS or WordPress. Strong skills in HTML and CSS coding, along with experience in graphic design software like Photoshop and Illustrator, are essential. Success in this position also requires excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills in U.S. English, a detail-oriented approach, and strong organizational and project management abilities. Candidates should be able to work independently with minimal supervision, collaborate effectively with others, and demonstrate a quick willingness to learn and grow their skills.

Preferred but not required: Familiar with UAF brand guidelines. Knowledge of making web pages compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (2.1AA). Knowledge of web programming languages such as JavaScript.

Minimum Qualifications:

Be enrolled at UAF with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; or

Have been enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters; and

Have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA, or a newly enrolled student.

Position Details:

Salary:  $16.20/hr

Working hours: Flexible, not to exceed 20 hours per week during the semester or more per week during the summer.
