The Student Parking Attendants (SPA) serve to provide professional and responsive assistance to the UAF community by performing jump starts, door unlocks, and providing accurate and helpful information to the UAF community and visitors. While enforcing UAF parking regulations, the Student Parking Attendants strive to deliver the highest degree of customer service possible while encouraging compliance to parking rules and regulations.

These positions will have flexible hours between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The successful applicants will provide various types of support to the UAF community and may also perform special projects as assigned. The Student Parking Attendant (SPA) reports to the Operations Manager in the Office of the Bursar.

To thrive in this role, the Student Parking Attendant will possess exceptional customer service and communication skills that include conflict resolution skills; the ability to maintain confidentiality; the ability to work outside in all types of weather and manually lift or move up to 50 lbs.; must be self-motivated and able to work with little supervision; the ability to display professional demeanor and make consistent decisions being honest and trustworthy in all required duties; possess computer skills and able to operate office machines (basic knowledge and use); the ability to operate handheld devices, upload and download information to a data base; and the SPA must be able to maintain a clean and neat appearance and be willing to wear a uniform.

Minimum Qualifications:

Sufficient to perform the responsibilities of the position and to have acquired the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Must possess and maintain a valid Alaska Driver's License with an excellent driving history in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria, and can safely operate a motor vehicle adhering to all applicable laws, statues and policies.
Basic computer training

Applicant should be enrolled as a student in a minimum of 6 credits with a minimum of GPA of 2.0, or a newly enrolled student, or the intent to enroll in 6 credit hours during the upcoming Fall 2024 semester.

PREFERRED:
Use of digital camera and ability to download photos.

Salary Information:

This is a part-time temporary student position, starting pay is $16.00 per hour, up to 20 hours per week while school is in session.  Compensation is commensurate with experience and type of work assigned.  Additional hours may be available during winter/summer breaks.

This is a pooled position, which means that the position remains open over the entire academic year and applicants are reviewed as needed on a rolling basis.  The review process will begin immediately. Multiple positions are hired throughout the year as needed.
