The Institute of Northern Engineering (INE) and the Alaska Center for Energy and Power (ACEP) are seeking a full-time Proposal Coordinator to assist faculty with preparing proposals to submit for possible funding by the National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, and other funding agencies. INE and ACEP are growing research centers; home to approximately 70 tenure and non-tenure track faculty and approximately 35 staff dedicated to providing the administrative and programmatic support necessary to carryout roughly $20 million in annual research activity.   

The Institute of Northern Engineering (INE) and Alaska Center for Energy & Power (ACEP) are agile research institutes that specialize in arctic, climate, and energy research. The institutes depend on a strong research administration support staff to carry out roughly $25 million in annual research activity. The Proposal Coordinator position is an integral part of the research administration team. Faculty and collaborators will depend on this position to submit accurate and high-quality research proposals to various funding agencies. The position will work closely with grant managers, administrative support staff, researchers, and INE and ACEP leadership.

To thrive in this role the applicant must be able to work collaboratively with fellow pre-award professionals, communicate clearly and concisely, and be comfortable with preparing project budgets in MS excel. Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary. Good comprehension of proposal and award documents. Independent judgment and ability to troubleshoot competing policies. Knowledge of federal regulatory policies; strong analytical skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

B.A. or B.S. in a related business or science field and 2 years increasingly responsible experience related to the program specialty or an equivalent combination of training and experience

Position Details:

This position is located on the Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks Alaska. This is a full-time, term-funded, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
