Program Evaluator, Graduate Medical Education

The University of Alaska is seeking a Program Evaluator for Graduate Medical Education (GME) to support the evaluation and continuous improvement of efforts to expand physician residency training opportunities across Alaska.

In this role, you will lead evaluation, performance measurement, quality improvement, and workforce analysis activities for the Alaska GME Council. Your work will help us understand program outcomes, identify opportunities for improvement, and use data to guide strategies that strengthen Alaska's healthcare workforce.

The Program Evaluator leads evaluation, quality improvement, and performance measurement activities for the Alaska GME Council. The position develops evaluation frameworks, monitors program outcomes, analyzes workforce data, prepares reports, and supports continuous quality improvement to ensure project objectives are achieved.

The Alaska Center for Rural Health and Health Workforce was established to support the University of Alaska Anchorage’s mission as the health university of the University of Alaska statewide system, and to stimulate appropriate system-wide development of health academic programs and research across the state, providing an interactive bridge between external and internal stakeholders. The Center manages health-related policy, planning, development, and advocacy activities for the University of Alaska system, and creates strong pathways for Alaskans to become the health professionals Alaska needs. The Alaska Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) program began at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) in 2005. AHECs are academic and community-based partnerships engaged in primary care workforce engagement, training and recruiting, and retaining activities to improve the distribution, diversity, supply and quality of health care personnel. The Alaska AHEC program office (housed within ACRH-HW) contracts with six regional Centers to implement educational activities involving health professions and to expose students to primary care delivery in rural and/or underserved settings. In addition, AHECs work closely with state and local workforce investment boards to identify and address health care needs and shortages.

An ideal candidate for the program evaluator role will have 1 year experience in program evaluation and/or research, or experience with quantitative and qualitative analysis, along with demonstrated strong technical writing skills.

Preferred experience includes at least three years of working in program evaluation or applied research, with experience evaluating HRSA or other federal grants and working with healthcare workforce data, particularly in rural health initiatives. Experience with statistical software and dashboard development is preferred, along with a master’s degree in public health, evaluation, statistics, epidemiology, social sciences, health services research, or a related field.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and one year experience in program evaluation and/or research, or experience with quantitative and qualitative analysis, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Position Details:

This position is located on the UAA campus in Anchorage, and flexible on-site/hybrid work arrangements may be considered in accordance with UA regulations. This is a full-time, ter-funded, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
