Facilities Service Maintenance Division has a robust Preventative Maintenance team, and this position will assist the PM Manager in all aspects of preventative maintenance systems. You must be detail-oriented, organized and have some technical experience with the maintenance and operations of mechanical or electrical equipment in a large setting.

Knowledge of facility mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems and their major components. Ability to organize individual items into logical groups. Knowledge of facilities equipment maintenance needs or the ability to learn. Ability to read, interpret and work from plans, drawings and specifications, and Operation & Maintenance manuals. Understand root causes of equipment failure and how maintenance techniques can minimize failures. Ability to work in active databases and enter accurate information in records. Knowledge of database structures and relationships. Ability to communicate with PMI technicians about systems and equipment. Attention to detail and accurate data entry. Moderate computer input/output skills, accurate data entry skills. Ability to understand relationships between building equipment systems and components. Ability to organize systems and equipment database records into hierarchical structure. Ability to gather utility data from diverse sources and analyze for trends and anomalies. Ability to work well with a variety of personnel, both university employees and private contractors. Some in-state travel required. Ability to thoroughly inspect buildings to identify and tag physical assets. This requires climbing ladders and stairways, looking above ceilings, entering mechanical and electrical rooms and other non-public areas in and around facilities.
Two years’ experience with personal computers including database entry/operation, Excel spreadsheets, CMMS software, and word processing. Two years technical experience with maintenance or operation of mechanical or electrical equipment in an institutional or industrial setting, or in construction.
Two Years of college level education in Engineering, Industrial/Construction Technology, or
equivalent education/experience. High School Diploma or equivalent. Alaska Driver's License required and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria.
Preferred: Bachelor of Science engineering degree from accredited institution. Maintenance Management Systems or database management. 5-10 years' experience with institutional or industrial mechanical equipment maintenance or operations.
This position is located on the UAF campus in Fairbanks, Alaska. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.
