This applicant pool is used by The Office of Research, to include the College of Engineering (CoEng), College of Business and Public Policy (CBPP), Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER), Community Technical College (CTC), Business Enterprise Institute (BEI), and the School of Education (SoEd) to hire student research assistants for sponsored projects as opportunities become available. The specific responsibilities and work schedule will depend on the assigned research project and available funding.

Student Assistant 2 positions support faculty and researchers on an as-needed basis during the academic year and/or summer. Duties are routine and may involve limited decision-making in the absence of supervision. Some prior training, experience, or knowledge—particularly of laboratory procedures for lab-based roles—may be required. Strong communication skills, reliability, and the ability to work independently after training are essential. A flexible schedule, including availability on nights and weekends may be required depending upon project needs.

To be eligible for student employment an applicant must be enrolled in the UA system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment and maintain a 2.0 GPA.

Position Details:

This position is located on the UAA Campus in Anchorage, Alaska. This is a part time, non-exempt student position. Starting salary for a Student Assistant 2 is $11.34, however, placement on the Student Salary Schedule will be determined by experience, job responsibility, and departmental need.
