The University of Alaska Anchorage, Student Health and Counseling Center (SHCC) is recruiting for an Office Manager & Fiscal Coordinator. We are looking for an applicant with solid communication, administrative and fiscal skills. If you are interested, we encourage you to apply!

This position functions as an administrative and fiscal role that serves as a key leader within the SHCC, overseeing comprehensive fiscal operations, administrative functions, and health insurance claim management while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong internal controls. The position manages complex budgets, reconciles accounts, prepares financial forecasts and reports, processes travel documentation, and is authorized to commit departmental expenditures, while also supervising administrative clinic staff and front desk operations. In addition, the role provides oversight of insurance billing and claims, maintains compliance with HIPAA and FERPA regulations, and serves as a liaison with medical vendors and IT to support clinical systems, security access, and electronic health records. This position combines fiscal expertise, operational leadership, and customer service to ensure efficient clinic administration and high-quality support for students, staff, and faculty.

To thrive in this role, a successful applicant should have strong knowledge of accounting theory and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), along with substantial experience as a fiscal professional or equivalent. The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced operational expertise in Excel, database development, and computer-generated reporting, as well as proven ability in cost/benefit analysis and budget forecasting. An understanding of medical office management principles, including billing processes, is essential. Additionally, the candidate should possess solid communication and personnel management skills to effectively lead financial operations and support organizational goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

Three years college coursework in a finance or accounting field and three years progressively responsible experience related to fiscal and medical office management, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Position Details:

This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
