The Office of Student Affairs is launching a new program called Mobile Go to reach out to the community via a mobile advertising and engagement trailer. This position will serve as the primary individual working on this program. This position will drive the truck and trailer to locations, events, and organizations to advertise The University of Alaska Anchorage and the various programs and opportunities we provide.

This position will be responsible for providing information and assistance to community members and potential students or other interested parties inside the trailer that will be equipped with computer equipment to assist in showcasing programs and the University of Alaska Anchorage.

To thrive in this role a successful applicant will possess the following skills and abilities:

* Sufficient knowledge of vehicles to perform thorough pre-trip/post-trip inspections and daily logs.
* Ability to safely drive and operate a large truck and trailer.
*The ability to pass a Federal DOT pre-employment drug screen test;
*The ability to pass the UAA safe driver training modules;
* Ability to assist customers requiring accommodation into trailer.

Strong customer service orientation and ability to communicate/support a diverse customer base to include:
We are looking for a customer service-oriented individual with the ability to effectively communicate and support a diverse customer base. The ideal candidate will be able to verbally present special information to customers and answer questions in a positive, clear, and concise manner. Respectful and efficient communication with a variety of customers is essential. High dependability and excellent time management skills are required to meet event schedule requirements. The candidate should demonstrate initiative, sound decision-making, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as being a strong team player. Flexibility to work alternate shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and in unpredictable weather conditions, is also necessary. Preferred:
* Previous experience with radios and coded communication. Previous experience driving a truck and trailer.
* Previous experience with organizational/in-house transit program.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or related field and three years of progressively responsible experience relevant to the position, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

CDL or ability to attain CDL licensure within six (6) months of hire.

Position Details:

This is a full-time, term-funded, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
