The Millwright program trains entry-level craftsmen who can install, dismantle, maintain, repair, and reassemble machinery. The faculty member is responsible for teaching Millwright courses and preparing students for successful placement into the gas and oil, mining, fish processing, and energy transmission workforce. The faculty member will also be responsible for the organization and management of the Millwright programKnowledge of the principals and practices of the Millwright profession.

To thrive in this role, we are seeking candidates that have the following skills and abilities:

Expert-level skills in subject area, equipment, tools, and materials used in the trade.

Ability to organize activities that promote skill development and knowledge of the Millwright profession.

Knowledge of pedagogical practice and theory working with non-traditional learners and various ethnic and socio-economic groups.

Ability to work and communicate cooperatively with students, faculty, and staff.

Skill in the preparation and delivery of classroom content.

Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs.

Effective oral and written communication skills, decision-making skills, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work flexible hours and manage multiple and competing priorities.

Journey-level experience and completion of an apprenticeship program. Experience teaching and/or mentoring also preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates degree in Technology or closely related field and at least 3 years of work experience as a Millwright
or
A combination of technical training, education, and experience to meet minimum standards for a faculty position in the University of Alaska Anchorage Career and Technical College.

A valid Alaska Driver's license, or the ability to obtain one upon hire, and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria is required.

Position Details:

This is a full-time, exempt, term-funded faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.
