ARLIS is a multi-agency state and federal library that partners with the UAA/APU Consortium Library to provide library services focused on the natural and cultural resources of Alaska. ARLIS is providing digitizing and inputting services to augment ServCat, and this position will assist with ServCat data entry. ServCat is a publicly-accessible online catalog that serves as a finding aid, repository, and full-text source for documents and reports in a variety of formats created by or for nationwide U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service offices and refuges.

The incumbent will work with a Project Lead to assist with ServCat inputting tasks. The incumbent will need to gain familiarity with ARLIS’s extensive U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service library collection as well as familiarity with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service initiatives, mandates, governance structure, and responsibilities in order to fully and accurately describe items to be input. The incumbent will also need familiarity with the basic principles of bibliographic description in order to best interpret and describe these materials to maximize their accessibility.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and one year experience in a relevant field (e.g. information science, museum studies, field of specialization, etc), or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Technical proficiency and and complex data entry exprience required.

Position Details:

This position is located on UAA's main campus in Anchorage, AK. This is a part-time (around 14 hours/week), temporary staff position. New hires will be placed on the UA Temporary Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 78, based on education and experience.
