Join the staff at Kodiak College on Alaska’s beautiful Emerald Isle as the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) Advisor!  Under the administrative direction of the KoC CAMP Director, this position will provide academic support services necessary to ensure the success and retention of students participating in the College Assistance Migrant Program. This position is primarily responsible for mentoring/advising services, academic and student support, orientation programs, communication with KoC faculty and staff about CAMP students and other related duties such as coordination, scheduling and monitoring program activities.

The College Assistance Migrant Program has existed since 1972. The program assists students who are migratory or seasonal farmworkers – or their dependents – enrolled in their first year of undergraduate studies at an Institution of Higher Education. The funding supports the completion of the first year of studies and serves 25 CAMP participants annually. Funding supports eligible persons through counseling, tutoring, skills workshops, financial aid stipends, health services, and housing assistance.

To thrive in this role as the CAMP Advisor, a candidate must possess strong advocacy and organizational skills. They will bring a proven track record in supporting students, working with migrant ed students, and an understanding of the importance of cultural place-based education.  Additionally, the CAMP Advisor must excel in communication, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring the program's goals are met and participants are supported in their educational journey.

Preference to candidates who are Bilingual (English/Spanish, or English/Tagalog, or English/Alutiiq) proficiency.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work (or a related field) and two years relevant experience, or commensurate experience.

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage Kodiak College campus in Kodiak, Alaska.  This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 78, based on education and experience.
