The University of Alaska Human Resources department is seeking an HRIS Analyst 1 or 2 (Grade 79 or Grade 80) to join our Human Resources Information Systems, Data Analytics, and Budget team. This is a range recruitment, final placement will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

The HRIS Analyst works within the HR Information Systems, Data Analytics, and Budget team, a group of analytical and driven professionals who provide technical, data, and financial expertise to support HR operations across the university system. We are a collaborative and supportive team that values family, flexibility, and professional growth. This position will collaborate across the HR department and with the Information Technology department to design, implement, and maintain efficient, compliant, and user focused HRIS solutions that enhance data integrity, streamline processes, and support strategic organizational goals.

To thrive in this role, you will bring curiosity, analytical thinking, and a customer focused mindset to solving HRIS and process challenges. You will translate between technical and functional teams, develop user stories and acceptance criteria, support systemwide testing and implementation efforts, and help ensure compliance with HR policies, collective bargaining agreements, and federal/state regulations.

As an HRIS Analyst 1, you will support technically complex projects, assist with testing and implementations, conduct research, build foundational HRIS knowledge, and help troubleshoot day to day issues.

As an HRIS Analyst 2, you will take on more complex and independent responsibilities, including leading or supporting major systemwide initiatives, performing advanced root cause analysis, crafting process improvements, mentoring peers, and bridging functional and technical requirements at a deeper level.

Placement at the 1 or 2 level will depend on experience, skills, and demonstrated competencies.

Minimum Qualifications:

HRIS Analyst 1 (Grade 79, HR Professional 3)
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field and two years professional human resources experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred.  

HRIS Analyst 2 (Grade 80, HR Professional 4)
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or other related field and three years progressively responsible professional human resources experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred.

Minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources, Business, or Information Technology fields.

Position Details:

This is a range recruitment that will be filled at the appropriate level (HR Analyst 1 or HR Analyst 2) depending on the successful applicant's knowledge and experience.

This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, minimum $27.95, DOE (HR Analyst 1) OR Grade 80, minimum $30.24, DOE (HR Analyst 2).
