General Maintenance Mechanic

Do you enjoy working with your hands and have experience in building maintenance? If so, this might be the job for you. UAS Facilities is a small, effective team, charged with maintaining campus facilities. If you would be interested in working with this collaborative team, we encourage you to apply.

This position often works in conjunction with other skilled tradespeople, in order to complete maintenance and repair work on UAS facilities and grounds. Areas of responsibility include, but are not exclusive to: laboratories, library, classrooms, housing spaces, kitchen/dining areas, offices, gymnasium, maintenance shops, wood shop, arts and craft shops, and seawater facilities.

One of our goals is to provide a high level of service to our campus community, and a positive attitude and patience are helpful in reaching those goals. Our Facilities Services group is small, and often relies on our team members assisting each other to successfully complete tasks. Teamwork, collaboration, and cooperation are a must.

Minimum Qualifications:

At least apprentice level certification or other equivalent evidence appropriate to the plumbing and heating trades; with a minimum of three years related experience in commercial and/or residential plumbing and heating, and/or; an equivalent combination.

Valid Alaska Driver's License, with acceptable driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria.

Position Details:

This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the Local 6070 Salary Schedule, Grade CT1, based on education and experience.
