Do you have a background in forestry or natural resources and strong outreach and communication skills? The University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service is seeking a Forestry Program Assistant that will act as the main point of contact for volunteers, advisory committee members and other partner agencies for the new Alaska Lumber Grading program and other extension and research forestry programs. This multifaceted position will organize, coordinate and promote training classes, workshops and other learning events in-person or through virtual delivery and act as a liaison for partner agencies. The position will also provide essential support in the preparation and development of training, outreach, and educational materials, provide administrative assistance with program activities, interact with University researchers, fiscal and proposal development offices and represent Extension forestry and forestry-related research at events throughout the state.

The Forestry Program Assistant plays a pivotal role in supporting proposal preparation and facilitating grant processing and submission. Additionally the position will collect required statistical data and assist with drafting report narratives and consolidating data to validate program outcomes.

We are seeking an individual with exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and a strong ability to multitask effectively. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, along with the capacity to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment. Adaptability, critical thinking, and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential traits for success in this dynamic role. Previous experience in continuing/community and/or university settings, website content management and Forestry/Natural or Environmental Sciences or a related field would be advantageous.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate’s degree and two years progressively responsible experience related to the program specialty, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Alaska driver’s license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving criteria is required.

Position Details:

This position is located on the Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks Alaska. This is a full-time, term-funded, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 78, based on education and experience.
