“Opportunities start here” is more than a slogan at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) Matanuska Susitna College (Mat-Su College); it is our mission. We are committed to helping students turn their educational goals into achievable realities. As an extended campus of UAA, Mat-Su College is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Financial Aid Representative.

Join a dynamic, student-centered university environment where your work directly impacts student success and access to higher education. This role offers the opportunity to guide students and families through the financial aid process, helping them navigate funding options, remove financial barriers, and stay on track toward their academic goals. You will collaborate with a supportive team, engage daily with students, and play a vital role in promoting retention and completion. If you are passionate about helping others, enjoy problem-solving, and thrive in a fast-paced, service-oriented setting, this is an exciting opportunity to grow your career in higher education.

This full-time position serves as a key point of contact for students seeking financial assistance. Responsibilities include advising students on federal, state, and institutional aid programs; reviewing and processing financial aid documents; assisting with FAFSA completion and verification; and ensuring compliance with university, state, and federal regulations. You will also support outreach efforts, help maintain accurate student records in systems such as Banner, and contribute to a welcoming and informative student experience. This is an on-site position based at Mat-Su College.

To thrive in this role, the successful applicant will be detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple student cases while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as this position works closely with a diverse student population as well as faculty and staff. The ideal candidate is comfortable interpreting policies, explaining complex financial information in a clear and supportive manner, and navigating student information systems. Experience in customer service, financial aid, or administrative support is helpful, but equally important is a commitment to student success, a willingness to learn, and the ability to take initiative in a collaborative environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Education, Counseling, Higher Education Administration, or a related field. May substitute using a lesser degree along with a minimum of two years of experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant training and similar experience.
