The ANSEP Dr. Herbert P. Schroeder Chair helps ensure the sustainability of the Alaska Native Science & Engineering Program (ANSEP) at the University of Alaska Anchorage. As an endowed chair, the position will drive support from alumni scholarship funding to create a "living endowment," and will work across various ANSEP units to seek philanthropic, federal, state, and private support for ANSEP.

To effect a systemic change in the hiring patterns of Indigenous Americans in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by increasing the number of Indigenous Americans who are on a career path to leadership in the STEM professions. The specific principles and practices of ANSEP are to--
• Promote college readiness by establishing early inspiration, guidance, and opportunity for students.
• Create and support ANSEP components and internships that provide intense preparation for university, public agency, and industry involvement.
• Build a welcoming environment at the University of Alaska.
• Infuse values of community, commitment, and collaboration in all elements of the program.

To thrive in this role, you will be a collaborative, caring leader who enjoys working as part of a team. Your passion for improving access and success of Alaska Native and rural students will encourage funding agencies, donors, alumni and others to join in support of the goals of ANSEP.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in related field. Experience in educational or cultural enrichment programs, especially working with Alaska Native students/potential students, or appropriate education and experiences to prepare to do so. Proven record of raising funds from any combination of private, corporate, federal, state, and/or local entities.

Position Details:

This position is located at the University of Alaska campus in Anchorage, and flexible on-site/hybrid work arrangements may be considered in accordance with UA regulations. This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 84, based on education and experience.
