Kenai Peninsula College (KPC) invites applications for the position of Program Director for the federally funded TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program. This is a unique opportunity for a passionate and strategic leader to make a significant impact on the academic success and retention of low-income, first-generation, and disabled students. The successful candidate will join a collaborative campus community dedicated to student achievement and educational equity.

The Program Director will provide strategic direction and vision for the TRIO SSS program, ensuring all activities and services align with federal legislation and meet project objectives. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and monitoring program activities; supervising, training, and evaluating program staff; and overseeing the identification, selection, and support of eligible participants. The Director will ensure accurate data management and compliance with federal regulations, prepare and submit required reports, and manage the program’s budget in collaboration with KPC Administrative Services. Additional duties include leading outreach and recruitment efforts, maintaining program visibility on campus and in the community, and representing KPC and the TRIO SSS program at various events and organizations. The Director will also be responsible for implementing the program’s evaluation plan and using assessment data to drive continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written. They will have experience in educational assessment, advising, and instruction, as well as a demonstrated ability to interpret and follow grant and institutional regulations. The person who will thrive in this role is someone who takes initiative, manages projects effectively, and builds positive relationships with students, staff, and community partners.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in Student Support Services or similar programs, advising college students, and supporting low-income, first-generation, or disabled populations. The successful candidate will be adaptable, able to learn new software applications, exercise sound judgment, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in educational administration, counseling, business administration, special education, or related field required.

Three years’ experience with management of staff, budgets, and/or programs in an educational setting.

Previous experience working with low-income, first-generation, or disabled populations.

Position Details:

This position is located on the Kenai Peninsula College campus in Soldotna. This is a full-time, term, exempt, staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 81, starting at $68,827.20 per year, based on education and experience.
