UAF University Advancement seeks a dynamic, experienced development professional to lead UAF’s development team with a mission to increase philanthropic gifts to the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Development efforts at UAF include gifts of significance ($25k+), pipeline development for major, principal, and planned benefactor discovery, and donor relations.

The Development Director reports to the Executive Director for University Advancement, a unit comprised of Development, Alumni Relations, University Relations teams. The Development Director will work collaboratively with academic and administrative leaders at UAF and across the system to grow the philanthropic program at UAF, including higher dollar goals and greater numbers of donors. As UAF launches its next strategic planning process, this position will play a critical role in ensuring development efforts support UAF’s priorities, helping UAF serve our students and the State of Alaska.

Proficient in philanthropic support, fundraising, and donor relations, including a deep understanding of industry trends, best practices, and technology. Skilled in program evaluation methodologies and adept at motivating teams. Proven success in securing major gifts and achieving fundraising goals. Capable of providing strategic guidance to internal and external stakeholders, collaborating with community leaders and executives, and developing/executing effective fundraising plans. Experienced in program management, budgeting, and supervisory responsibilities, with the ability to recommend long-term strategies and craft compelling philanthropic proposals.

Minimum of 10 years of full-time, management-level, progressively responsible fundraising experience, including major gift fundraising experience.

Master's degree preferred, or equivalent, in business, public administration or management (appropriate experience may be substituted for the advanced degree).

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, business, public administration or relevant field and a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience (at least five of which are at the management level), or an equivalent.

Position Details:

This is a full-time, exempt staff position with a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 83, based on education and experience.
