The Human Services Workforce Training Program at Kenai Peninsula College, in Soldotna Alaska, is looking for an individual with a passion for the field of human services and human services education.

This position will be responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of the workforce training program, including maintaining a HUMS Workforce Development Office responsible for budget management, building and utilization of community partnerships including partners in education, career services, Alaska Native organizations, and human services agencies. Surveys/statistical analysis of evaluation processes and outcomes project impact on the Kenai workforce using surveys and other methodology. This position will create community and student awareness of HUMS programs through participation in a variety of outreach methods including marketing, recruitment via in person and online methods, interagency meetings and regular outreach activities. Additionally this position will serve as the onboard point for new students and build person-centered relationships with recruited and current HUMS advisees, facilitating application, admission, registration, use of UA Online, Blackboard and provide advising for Human Services degrees and certificates. This position will also assist students from Alaska Native backgrounds with navigating the gaps between Western educational paradigms and indigenous systems and engage in community building and supporting student persistence among students who enroll in OECs by establishing regular contacts and student-centered events, and may supervise a student worker position.

To thrive in this role, the candidate will have experience with the following requirements: Experience with successful interagency program management including creation, maintenance, tracking and evaluation; and a strong history of effective community partnerships on the Kenai Peninsula, particularly those in education, tribal organizations, and human services agencies. Experience with budgeting, marketing and recruitment. Experience applying best practices on university policies and procedures, and federal laws and legal issues as they relate to students, and using university-level systems and portals for advising, with knowledge of UAA-specific systems preferred, including Blackboard, DocuSign, and electronic portfolios. Excellent computer skills with various software programs to include databases, spreadsheets, and word processing programs (Google Docs, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint). Experience in engaging students in career, personal, and educational development activities and college-level advising. Experience with high school dual credit programs, working collaboratively with school district personnel, building rapport with students, staff, faculty and the general public, and experience working with at-risk, non-traditional, culturally diverse high school and college level students. Excellent communication and collaborative skills. This employee will work closely with KPC/UAA Human Services faculty and the UAA College of Health to fulfill job duties and develop future new funding sources through contracts and grants.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work or closely related field and three years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

An unrestricted Alaska driver’s license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving criteria is required.

Position Details:

This position is located on the Kenai Peninsula College campus in Soldotna, Alaska. This is a full-time, term-funded, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, starting at $27.47, based on education and experience.
