Communications Lead - Alaska EPSCoR

Alaska NSF EPSCoR is looking for a communications manager to lead communications and reporting efforts for its Interface of Change project. The communications manager oversees all project internal and external communications, including project reports, newsletters, social media accounts, and designing and distributing communications outreach products. The communications manager will lead and organize various outreach events where project research and activities can be highlighted. The communications manager will work with the EPSCoR researchers, project participants and the data visualization team in designing and implementing various audiovisual outreach materials. The communications manager may have the opportunity to travel to EPSCoR research communities to help with project events and assist in filming and photographing EPSCoR activities.

Alaska NSF EPSCoR is a statewide capacity building research project with a current focus on GoA marine resources. The EPSCoR Communications Manager position will lead all outreach efforts, internal and external communications and annual reporting efforts.

To thrive in this role, the applicant should demonstrate strong writing and verbal communication skills. Experience with science writing or research is preferred. The applicant should also possess project management and prioritization skills, data management skills and interpersonal skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or related field and four years of progressively responsible experience relevant to the program, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Position Details:

This position is located on the Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks Alaska. This is a full-time, term-funded, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 80, based on education and experience.
