The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) is seeking a dedicated Coordinator to work on the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) at UAA. If you are interested we invite you to apply!

CAMP has existed since 1972. CAMP assists students who are migrator or seasonal farmworkers - or children of such workers - enrolled in their first year of undergraduate studies at an institution of higher education. The funding supports completion of the first year of studies. The program serves approximately 25 CAMP participants annually. The CAMP coordinator will work under the CAMP director in planning, implementing, and evaluating all program activities, and fostering a supportive environment for CAMP participants.

To thrive in this role, you must have a strong understanding of the organizational and operational functions of post-secondary institutions, as well as the needs of the migratory population in our communities. Familiarity with services to improve academic skills, federal grants, and computerized instruction is essential. Effective communication, both verbal and written, is key for creating a positive learning environment and providing educational workshops. You must also be able to interpret and apply laws, policies, and procedures, while working independently and managing a varied workload. Leadership skills are important along with maintaining accurate records and representing the program to the public. Finally, the ability to work in a multicultural environment and establish cooperative relationships is crucial.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, or related field and three (3) years of experience providing student support in functions such as college admissions, advising, recruitment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Experience with migrant students and/or demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to the unique characteristics and needs of migratory students.
