Campus Recreation Assistant is responsible for monitoring facility access and ensuring the safe usage of the REC Center. This is a mid-level entry position that includes cash handling. Knowledge of customer service, recreation, and wellness. Responsible for renting REC Center outdoor equipment, monitoring the entrance and exit, checking in guests and members, and maintaining a clean, friendly environment. Other responsibilities may include cardio/weight room inspection and cleaning, event set-up, and display creation. We are looking for self-motivated team players that enjoy spending time at the REC Center and taking advantage of its diverse offerings.
Applicants should be familiar with the services campus recreation provides. Staff will assist with the opening and closing of the REC Center, with shift hours that can vary from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm. The successful candidate must have excellent customer service skills and the desire to work with a diverse public. Must have good attention to detail and cash handling experience. Experience with fitness and wellness preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:
Requires current certification or willingness to obtain certification in Basic First Aid and Adult CPR (preferred). Point of sales experience required. One to three years of customer service and/or recreation experience preferred.
To be eligible for student employment, an applicant must:
a. Be enrolled in the University of Alaska system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment;
or
b. Have been enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters; and
c. Have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or approval from the MAU Senior Student Services officer or his/her designee.
d. Students enrolled in nontraditional programs of study will be considered eligible for student employment with the approval of the Senior Student Services officer.
e. An applicant must provide evidence of enrollment as outlined above to substantiate employment eligibility.
Position Details:
This position is located on the Juneau campus. This is a part-time, non-exempt Student Assistant 1 position, with a starting pay of $14.38/hr.
